Hannah Smith earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics from Emory University, where she studied antibiotic resistance in Gram-negative bacteria. She completed her postdoctoral research as an NIH IRACDA Fellow at Emory University, studying the structural basis of ribosome stalling in several clinically significant bacterial pathogens. Hannah joined the faculty at Georgia Tech in the summer of 2024. She currently teaches Principles of Biology I (BIOS 1107), Integrative Genetics Lab (BIOS 2611), and has been involved in a variety of other courses like Genetics (BIOS 2600), Microbiology (BIOS 3380), and Cell and Molecular Biology (BIOS 3450).
