Linda Green joined the faculty at Georgia Tech in Fall 2008 as a member of the School of Biology. She earned her Ph.D. in ecology at the University of Virginia in 2006. Her research focuses on anthropogenic changes to the community and ecosystem ecology of streams, both in high-elevation and urban settings. She is also interested in the conservation biology of amphibians, particularly with regard to climate change. Dr. Green currently teaches in the Introductory Biology, Ecology, Evolution, Math Models, Vertebrate Biology, and Senior Project Lab courses.
From 2017-2020, Dr. Green was a Teaching Professor in Biology at Georgetown University, where she also co-led the implementation of a campus-wide natural science requirement. She taught introductory biology, conservation biology, and urban ecology at Georgetown. In 2020, she returned to Georgia Tech as the director of campus-wide academic support, Tutoring and Academic Support in the Office of Undergraduate Education. She supervised the creation of the Learning Assistant program and growth to over 200 student staff in peer educator roles of tutor, PLUS Leader, LA, and desk assistants.
Dr. Green returned to the College of Sciences in 2023 to join the leadership for the interdisciplinary Environmental Science major. As Director of Experiential Learning, she facilitates the integration of hands-on experiences, field excursions, internships, study abroad programs, and field assistant positions into the curriculum for ENVS majors.
Linda's excellence in teaching and mentoring has been recognized with the Eichholz Faculty Teaching Award, the GTAAN Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award, and the CETL Undergraduate Educator Award. She was a 2012-2013 National Academies of Science Education Fellow in the Life Sciences, and a 2022 Inclusive Leader and Culture Champion at Georgia Tech.
