Research Interests:
neural plasticity of the motor system, motor control, stroke rehabilitation
Overview:
Background and research interests: Dr. White received a BA in Dance and Performances Studies from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004. After dancing professionally for many years she returned to school, completing a certificate in postbaccalaureate studies in health sciences from Columbia University in 2015. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Emory University in May of 2018 and continues to work toward her PhD in Applied Physiology at the Georgia Institute of Technology, the first student to pursue this dual degree program. Mary Alice’s research interests lie in predictive models of motor recovery after stroke, acute stroke rehabilitation, physiological mechanisms of neural repair and their motor learning correlates in individuals with stroke.
