The Laboratory for Sensori-Motor Integration ( led by
Timothy Cope in the School of Biological Sciences
and Department of Biomedical Engineering at The Georgia Institute of Technology is searching for a Research Scientist I.  The laboratory’s research interests center on properties of neurons and neural circuits that mediate somatosensory guidance of movement.  Using methods in electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry/microscopy, molecular biology, biomechanics, and behavioral analyses, we study processes, mechanisms and behavioral impact of neural signaling by motor and sensory neurons through circuits in the mammalian spinal cord.

The position requires at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in neuroscience, physiology, biology, or related fields.  Primary responsibilities will be to engage in experimental preparation and procedures of data collection, including animal (rodent) care and handling, surgical skills, tissue processing for gene analysis and/or immunohistochemistry and microscopy, data management.  Preference will be given to applicants having experience/skills in some of the following areas: quantitative and statistical analyses, methods in molecular biology, mechanical engineering, computer coding and/or modeling.  A minimum 2-year commitment is required.

Interested applicants should submit :
