The Biology degree program fits the pre-med MCAT requirements perfectly without adding additional hours to your degree requirements: there is no pre-health track needed!

Biological Sciences offers many upper-level BIOS courses with a strong pre-health focus, and the Biology degree offers you the flexibility to craft your own custom set of upper-level BIOS electives to fit your career goals. Most BIOS 3000 or 4000-level courses can count toward Biology electives, as specified by the Biology Degree Requirements.

Pre-health courses which can count toward Biology Breadth Electives*:
There are many other courses offered by other schools which can provide great breadth of knowledge to your Biology degree, including those offered by Chemistry and Biochemistry (CHEM), Psychology (PSYC), Neuroscience (NEUR), and Biomedical Engineering (BMED). In many cases, such courses can count for Biology major Breadth electives if they are 3000-level or higher.
Be sure to check the course catalog to confirm credit hours and pre-requisites.
*up to nine hours of Biology breadth electives may be outside of biology as specified in the Biology Degree Requirements. Please check the Undergraduate Handbook for more details.
Pre-health courses which can count toward Humanities or Social Sciences:
In some cases, pre-health courses can fulfill Humanities electives, such as those offered by Literature, Media, and Communication (LMC) or Social Science electives, such as those offered by Psychology (PSYC) and History and Sociology (HTS).
Check the Georgia Tech Core Curriculum to confirm that your courses of interest will fulfill a Humanities or Social Science elective and the course catalog to confirm credit hours and pre-requisites.
